Two years ago we started Hacking for the Holidays, a workshop to learn how to make toys accessible for children with disabilities. A child with a physical disability might not be able to use their hands to control a toy but perhaps they are capable of using their head, feet, shoulders, knees or arms to trigger a switch. Learn how to make your own capability switches and how to adapt battery operated toys. It's a fun process and the supplies you will use are basic items that are available at hardware and electronic stores (ie RadioShack). You bring a toy (the inexpensive ones are best), maybe a camera (to show off your hack to friends) and we'll provide everything you need to make your toy switch adapted.
